ABC Family Recaptures Top Summer Ratings

With the season finale of Pretty Little Liars providing a nice end-cap, ABC Family has reclaimed the top spot among women 18-34, the network’s key demographic and one of the primary aims of its new “Becomers” position. The network fell out of the top spot last year, having held it the two previous years. But with new brand alignment and strong programming, ABC Family has once again bumped itself up to first place.

We’ve been working hard over the past few months with ABC Family to develop and execute the network’s brand realignment, which can be described as that “scary time in life when you experience the most firsts – first car, first apartment, first job, first love, first heartbreak.” It’s not a demographic; it’s a life stage, anywhere from high school to a decade beyond college.

Not only did ABC Family capture first place, but Pretty Little Liars landed as the 31 cable series for adults 18-34. Additionally, the show’s finale was the top tweeted series telecast of the summer, and the third most tweeted series episode ever.

Keep an eye on the network as the new branding continues to take shape, and the channel continues its evolution.
